IS has claimed responsibility for the attack in Niger.
The terrorist group Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the killing of 23 army officers and soldiers in a bomb attack in Niger. This information is known from the report of the news agency Reuters. At least 23 people were killed in a terrorist attack in Niger’s Tillaberi region on March 20.

Islamic State’s own news agency ‘Amaq’ claimed responsibility in a statement last Saturday. The statement was published on social media Telegram. There, IS said, on March 20, they were involved in an organized attack near the town of Tegue, in the western part of Niger, in the Tillaberi region.

Last Thursday, Niger’s interior minister said that 23 soldiers were killed and more than 17 were injured in a terrorist attack in Tilaberi. He also said that 30 attackers were also killed in the counter-attack.

On the day of the incident, Niger troops were preparing to return to barracks after an operation in the insurgency-hit Tillaberi region. At such a time, hundreds of armed men attacked the army camp with modern explosives and suicide bombs.

An Islamist insurgency has been raging in the West African country of Niger for 12 years. These rebels are originally from Mali. The country has been fighting against these groups for a long time. As a result, thousands of people have been killed in the country, millions of people have been displaced.
