A Muslim nurse in New York has been fired for calling Israeli forces’ invasion of the besieged Gaza Strip “genocide”. New York University Langone Medical Center nurse Hessen Jaber called the aggression in Gaza “genocide” while accepting an award earlier this month. That is why he is looking for a job.

Turkey-based media Anadolu Agency gave the news in a report.

Palestinian American citizen Hassan Jabar is a reproductive nurse. She said on the social platform Instagram that she was speaking while accepting an award in recognition of her work with grieving mothers who have lost children during pregnancy.

Hesen Jabar said, “After receiving the award, I returned to my first shift on May 22. After I got to the unit, I was called into an impromptu meeting with the president and vice president of nursing at NYU Langone. It asks how I put others at risk, how I ruined the event and how I hurt people. Because, in a small part of my speech, I paid tribute to the bereaved mothers of my country.

Hessen was then sent to work his shift. The authorities, on the other hand, decided what to do with Hesse.

Hesen Jabar said, “After working almost the entire shift, I was called to the office again. There, Human Resources Director Austin Bender read me my termination letter and a plainclothes police officer escorted me off the hospital premises.’

In a video posted on Hesse’s Instagram account, she can be heard saying, “It pains me to see the unimaginable loss that the women of my country are going through in the ongoing genocide in Gaza.”

According to Fox News, Steve Rita, a spokesman for NYU Langone, confirmed that Hesse Jaber was fired because of his speech.
