The death toll from Israel’s indiscriminate attacks on the besieged Palestinian territory of Gaza continues to rise. Since October 7, Israeli attacks in the region have so far killed more than 30,500 people. On Monday, the news agency AFP reported the information with reference to the Ministry of Health of Gaza.
Gaza’s health ministry said in a statement that at least 124 people were killed in Israeli attacks in the last 24 hours before Monday. In total, since October 7, the number of people killed in Israeli attacks in the past 146 days has reached 30,534. At least 71 thousand 980 people were injured during this time.
Meanwhile, a severe food crisis has emerged in Gaza as aid has been completely cut off. The children of the region are dying due to malnutrition. Child mortality due to malnutrition has increased significantly during the five months of war. Several organizations working on children’s rights, including the United Nations Children’s Fund UNICEF, have expressed concern over this.
Al Jazeera, a Qatar-based media outlet, reported that the number of Palestinian children who died due to malnutrition and inadequate medical care rose to 16 after the death of a child at the Abu Yusuf al-Najjar hospital in Rafah city, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. Kamal Adwan Hospital authorities in the northern Gaza Strip said last Sunday that six children suffering from malnutrition and dehydration are in intensive care.
According to the Palestinian Ministry of Health, residents of the northern Gaza Strip are under the grip of famine. They have to fight with death constantly due to lack of necessary water and food. But the worst situation is children. As a result, children in these areas are suffering from problems like malnutrition and dehydration.
In addition, the number of child deaths due to lack of treatment in Gaza is also increasing at an alarming rate. According to the Ministry of Health, 155 health facilities were destroyed within 150 days of the Israeli invasion of the Gaza Strip. Apart from this, 32 hospitals and 53 health centers have been kept out of service. At least 126 ambulances have been targeted by Israel at various times.
The Ministry of Health also said that Israel killed 364 health workers in Gaza at this time. Apart from this, Israeli forces have arrested 269 people including the directors of various hospitals.
