Brave Iranians will punish Israel: IRGC chief

Major General Hossein Salami, head of Iran’s Revolutionary Guards.
Iran reiterates its vow to punish Israel. Attending the funeral of the dead members of the Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) who were killed in the Israeli attack on the Syrian capital in Tehran on the historic Al-Quds Day today, Major General Hossein Salami, the head of the force, pointed to Israel and said that the brave people of Iran must punish the Zionist state.

According to a Reuters report, videos broadcast on Iran’s state-run television showed al-Quds Day protesting against the killing of IRGC members. At that time, they chanted ‘America will die, Israel will die’.

Major General Hossein Salami, attending the funeral of the dead members of the IRGC, said, “Every act of the enemy against the Holy Islamic Republic will be answered.” Our brave members will surely punish the Zionist regime.

Last Monday, five Iranian military advisers and two generals were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the consular building of the Iranian embassy in Damascus, the capital of Syria. Iran has vowed to avenge the killing. Israel has neither confirmed nor denied responsibility for the attack. However, it is believed that the Israeli Air Force was behind it. This has created a fear of increasing violence in the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel is prepared for an attack from Iran. Netanyahu counter-threatened, “Israel will harm anyone who harms us or plans to harm us.”

“Iran has been working against us for many years – both directly and through allies,” Netanyahu said at the start of a security cabinet meeting last night, threatening Iran in return. Israel is therefore pursuing a defensive and offensive approach against Iran and its allies.

He also said, ‘We know how to protect ourselves. We will therefore operate on a simple principle, and that is—we will harm those who harm us or plan to harm us.’
